Our day began with an early lunch in Antalya before departing for the city of Isparta.
Isparta is also known as the city of roses. Production of rose water is one of its main enterprises.
Located in the city is Turkey’s second largest University, Süleyman Demirel University. The University is named after a Turkish President (1993-2000) and Prime Minister (1991-1993), Süleyman Demirel, who was born in the Isparta region, attended school here and served as a minister from the region.
The University is fast growing. Currently holding a student population of 65,000 (including 2,000 international students), the University presently has numerous new buildings under construction.
We were greeted by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hasan Ibicioglu in his office at the University.
We were able to engage in a brief discussion on world affairs before proceeding to dinner with the participants of the Davraz Congress, being hosted by the University.
The dinner was excellent as all our prior meals in Turkey.
