Driving through the Florida Keys is one of the most beautiful drives in the United States. The 126 mile drive from the end of US1 to Key West is loaded with spectacular views and places to stop to soak it all in.
The drive through the upper, middle and lower keys is pretty diverse as well.

See The Coral Reefs
If you are looking for an opportunity to see beautiful Coral Reefs, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the place. The park offers great snorkeling and scuba diving. You can get close to the reefs and experience the natural wonders of the ocean.
If you are not adventurous, you can also take a glass bottom boat tour and see the reefs from the surface, without even getting wet!
This is fun for everyone, no matter the age, everyone enjoys seeing the beauties of the ocean.
Swimming with Dolphins
Throughout the Florida Keys, you will find numerous locations to swim with Dolphins. Plan your trip well and you may be able to swim with these gentle creatures of the sea!
Boating and Fishing
Don’t have your own boat? No problem! There are plenty of boat rental spots in the Keys. You can rent them for an hour, a day, a week, however long you need the boat for. Some places will even throw in a captain to take you the best fishing spots in the Keys!
Eating Some Fresh Fish
There is nothing like eating a fresh meal. In the Keys, the fish is fresh catch from the ocean. If you have access to a kitchen, there are many shops that sell fish that was caught that same day! Pick some up and cook it at home, or visit one of the hundreds of excellent restaurants in the Keys. You are sure to enjoy your meals!
Have Some Key Lime Pie
The Florida Keys are famous for their Key Lime Pies! There is no better place to have Key Lime Pies! You will find many shops and restaurants that advertise theirs. I have yet to have a bad Key Lime Pie in the Keys!
Ernest Hemingway House
The house where Ernest Hemingway lived from 1931 to 1939 is located in Key West. A visit to the home will allow you to see the place where Hemingway wrote some of his most famous works, such as work, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro”, “The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber,” To Have And Have Not, and Green Hills of Africa.
President Truman’s Little White House
President Harry S Truman loved the Florida Keys. In the winter, the tropical weather was way better than his home in Missouri and the White House in DC. Built in 1890, the house was part of the Naval establishment in Key West. Other notable visitors to the house through the years include Thomas Edison, President William Howard Taft, President Dwight Eisenhower, President John F. Kennedy and President Bill Clinton.
Southernmost Point
One of the most famous symbols of the Florida Keys is the Southernmost Point Buoy. Placed in the southernmost point of Key West, the buoy marks the 90 mile point from Florida’s neighbor to the South, Cuba.
Duval Street
To fully experience Key West, you MUST make your way to Duval Street. Filled with shops, restaurants and bars, Duval Street is the life of Key West. Park your car and walk its length. In Duval Street you can find fun for every member of the family.
